@Peter If they can develop new interfaces for their cloud offering's, they can do it for this also.

@Paul IBM would only be able to support this on servers that are licensed by the server capacity, not ones that are licensed by number of users.

My reasoning for having it as a separate license/server would be to allow BPs to put it in a non-Domino environment more easily. Adding this capability to a Utility server should also be in the cards.
25 Feb 2011Bruce Elgort12540Support the use of XPages for Domino web forms such as Login form, change password

I would also like to see support for redirections from an .xsp page. Currently you cannot redirect from an xsp. As a work around I have to add redirectTo code in my XPage.

They should just add the connectors to normal Domino. We've been looking at some of these mechanisms. But we would use it to provide choice. So it would have no effect on licensing.
23 Feb 2011Peter von Stöckel5721Create Domino Internet Application Server w/ OAuth/OpenID/FacebookConnect Support

Sean, I agree with the support part of this idea, but not the limitations. The licensing would need to not be based on registered users, though. If IBM is to develop a new Admin interface to this server, it'll never get done.
22 Feb 2011Nathan Chandler1754Public/Private Key Pairs for Mail-In databases (create shareable private key)

I'm not advocating making the users private key shareable, I'm saying there needs to be a shareable type of key which you can create so that you can send encrypted email to a mail-in database and authorised users can decrypt it without having to change ID (as you would if it was a person document style mailbox).

The reason is that you can maintian an audit trail - no users will share an ID File - and you can provide security and encryption capabilities to a shared mailbox.

11 Nov 2010Peter Presnell28487Break up server document / configuration into functional components

I say no, because I often forget which tab has the items I wish to change. If I am now switching forms each time instead of changing tabs it will be a lot slower navigating and I have to comit any changes i have already made to the document before the switch form will be actioned.

The dialogue just does not need; for examle: we see what has now become a terrible "Edit Location..." on the Notes Client.
08 Jul 2010Bill Malchisky12192Public/Private Key Pairs for Mail-In databases (create shareable private key)

If I am reading this correctly, you can export the public key. The private key should be kept private. Have an option to more easily share one's public key would seem more appropriate. But please correct me if need be.

@2, I agree...multiple private keys...but not share them. Just allow the corresponding public key to be easily passed along.
25 Jun 2010David Hablewitz15116Public/Private Key Pairs for Mail-In databases (create shareable private key)

Yes, you should be able to have multiple private keys. Another option is to create a single encryption key. But that only handles data once it gets to the database, not during transit.
16 Mar 2010Richard Schwartz4594Public/Private Key Pairs for Mail-In databases (create shareable private key)

I've been wanting this for more than ten years. What is needed is a separation of the the key pair used for authentication and signature from the key pair used for decryption so that a user ID can contain multiple private keys for decryption. Customers currently work around this by sharing a common ID file for access to encrypted messages in shared mailboxes, but this loses authentication of which real person acts on a message. A user should be able to read an encrypted message with a shared private key, but sign a reply to it with his own private key!
08 Mar 2010Carlos Flores1106Enable Editor Access Security on Auto Populate Fields on Group Documents

I called regarding this and they said that on the 8.5.1 template there will be a warning pop up when modifying that field. I said not good enough, we need a way to control that ability from the users, because they have blanked out a couple of our groups already. Then they said to enable extended access and lock down that field. Have not tried that yet, but this is definitely something that should be ouf of the box.
08 Jan 2010Tinus Riyanto2825Allow storage of Domino person document on an external directory and authenticate against it

Ulrich, yes I am aware of that announcement you can see my comment there. I wonder if there is a way for us to force IBM to change their mind about this. Maybe I should change the title to "Give us a full featured Directory Independence ... now please" perhaps that would attract more attention ?
07 Jan 2010Ulrich Krause5701Allow storage of Domino person document on an external directory and authenticate against it

I have promoted the idea, but according to an IBM announcement yesterday, this function will not be available in Domino ( although it is available in hosted solutions )

07 Jan 2010Bruce Lill10666Allow storage of Domino person document on an external directory and authenticate against it

I have spent a lot of time building LEI or agents to pull personal data from other systems like HR. It works but when it screws up, it screws everything up big time.
06 Jan 2010Peter Presnell28487Allow storage of Domino person document on an external directory and authenticate against it

Many companies already do store lots of the personal data in fields outside of the Domino Directory. I think it is a great shame a greater effort isn't made to allow companies to sync this data without requiring each and every company to develop there own sync programs. Notes applications (especially workflow) can be made a lot simpler if I can use the built in functions to extract data from the Domino Directory rather than a 3rd part source.
06 Jan 2010Craig Wiseman24988Allow storage of Domino person document on an external directory and authenticate against it

I'm iffy about this one. IBM's trying to shoehorn TDI in here to do this function, but it's not like that's a 'lightweight" option.
05 Jan 2010Craig Wiseman24988Domino person record needs to contain the location (or replica ID) of the user's primary mail archive.

I understand that we can have multiple archives, but as process, it seems logical to define a primary and store it's location in the same place as the rest of the "person" info. That way it's available without having to do complicated mail file parsing.
04 Jan 2010Bill Malchisky12192Add new view "Groups By Members" to the Domino Directory

Like @3 @4, been putting this into all local Directory replicas so that I can data mine sans performance hits or violating client policy on design template modifications. It's handy.

Embedded views on the directory can kill server performance and might run into issues with servers that do not hold the entire directory, but pull it from a directory server to save bandwidth on replications...

An action button in the view could well, cause challenges with creating lookup views or crawling on the fly and invoke impromptu performance demands on the administration server. More complexity than needed for little gain.

Just make a local replica with receive only replication and code the template to your hearts-content. Probably safer and avoids any performance hits.
30 Dec 2009Bill Malchisky12192Domino person record needs to contain the location (or replica ID) of the user's primary mail archive.

@3 Correct...some environments do not lock-down these settings and can users could potentially have an archive for every day on the calendar (an exaggeration, but illustrates the risk).

To combat this matter, the person document should have a running list similar to the Notes client version history for each version...so whenever a user changes their archive rules, the file name and location (if changed in any way), get pushed up to their person document for tracking.

Still might not catch everything, but would allow for decent data mining of archive usage.
