For some applications it doesn't matter which server it runs on, as long as it runs.
In addition to selecting which server the agent is to run on, there should be an option to choose which cluster, perhaps with an primary server, or the administration server could be set as primary.
When an agent is set to run in a cluster, it should automatically switch to another server if its primary server goes down.

Although it sounds like a good idea I don't think it is. Especially in a cluster environment you will probably end up with a lot of replication conflicts if the agent automatically runs on the cluster - once the 'main' server comes back I think this will lead into problems. We have a lot of experience with clustered databases (and reasons replication conflicts are created there) and I would never use such a function. Better the agent doesn't run at all instead of creating havoc... :-)

It sounds like a great idea but I see lots of side-issues that might make this more of a problem than a solution. The issue may be a communication issue and not a server actually down which could result in two servers running the agent. I would rather see the option to designate an agent to run on the "Administration Server" and then allow the Administration server to be changed when a server is out of action for an extended period of time.

LEI provides this ability for agents, it could be added into Domino. The problem would be to indicate which server is main and which are secondary. Each secondary would have to check with main to see if it ran and if it's down to notify the other servers that it's going to run the agent. When the main server comes back on line it would see that that agent has already run.
